Make Your Best Pizza Ever at Home

Craving for pizza? Don’t immediately resort to buying! If you’ve got an oven, the right kitchen tools, and the ingredients you need for pizza, why not try your luck at home? Your homemade pizza could be just as good (if not better) than any other pizza. You’ll never know if you never try!

Don’t know where to start? We’re here to help! We’ll walk you through how to make pizza crust, toppings, the perfect temperature, and how long to bake a pizza. Read on and make your best pizza ever.

      It Starts with the Base

Let’s start with the base, the crispy crust that holds it all together. There are several options for pizza dough: You can make pizza with store-bought dough, use pre-baked crusts, pita bread for small pizzas, or make your own. If you’re making pizza dough at home, a few kitchen tools can help you create a smooth dough that isn’t overworked or underworked. Let’s dive in as we go through the step by step for making pizza dough.

      1. In a large stainless steel bowl, dissolve 1 tsp sugar and ¼ oz yeast in water; let stand for 5 minutes. Add ¼ cup oil and 1 tsp salt. Mix with aspatula. Stir in 4 cups of flour, 1 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
      2. Transfer dough onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, for about 2 to 3 minutes. Place in a lightly greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, for about 45 minutes.

      Making Your Own Pizza Sauce

There are delicious pre-made marinara sauces for pizza available at the supermarket. Beyond red pizza sauces, don’t forget you can use pesto sauces, white sauces, or even simple olive oil and garlic sauce. But making your pizza sauce isn't complicated if you want a bit of personalisation. For this blog, we’ll create a classic and easy pizza sauce.

      1. Mix 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce, 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste, 1 tbsp ground oregano, 1½ tsp dried minced garlic and 1 tsp ground paprika in a bowl.

      Prepping the Toppings

There’s almost no limit to the toppings you can put on a pizza. Tomato sauce and pepperoni? Classic. Pineapple and bacon? For sure. Chicken pesto? Love it! The best part of making your pizza is being able to create your combinations. Remember, you can always experiment with different toppings whether sweet, savoury or unique. Your kitchen, your rules!

      1. Cook ½ pound beef and 1 grated small onion over medium heat. When beef is no longer pink, drain and set aside.
      2. Prepare other ingredients; bacon, pizza sauce, mozzarella, mushroom, and olives.

      Layering the Pizza

There are no exact rules in layering your pizza. But if you mess up with the layering, you might get a possible pizza fail. Before layering the pizza, start preheating thepizza stone in the oven between 250 to 260 °C.

      1. Punch down dough, divide in half and roll each half with arolling pin.
      2. Dust thepizza peel with a little flour and form the pizza dough on the peel.
      3. Spread the pizza sauce on the dough in a circular motion. Remember not to use too much sauce!
      4. Top it with ground beef, bacon, mushroom and olives.
      5. And lastly, shred mozzarella cheese on top of the pizza to add cheesy flavour. Make sure not to overcrowd the pizza with cheese as we don’t want to leave the meat uncooked.
      6. Slip the pizza onto the hot pizza stone.

Tip: Jiggle the peel to make sure the pizza isn't sticking. You want it to slide off the peel easily. If it's stuck, gently lift the sticky dough and dust with a wee bit more flour or cornmeal.

      1. Close the oven door and let the pizza bake.

      Get Baking

      1. Check the pizza after 5 minutes. If some spots are browning faster than the others, rotate the pizza by slipping the peel underneath it like a giant spatula. Turn the pizza on the peel and return it to the baking stone using the same swift motion.
      2. If you like, remove the pizza from the oven halfway through baking to brush more oil on the crust. This added oil will help darken the crust and make it even tastier.
      3. Bake for 20-30 minutes at 200 degrees C or until cheese is melted.

Tip: The pizza is done when the cheese is melted to a medium-to-dark brown.

      1. Carefully remove the pizza with the peel and let it cool slightly. If you want, you can top it with additional fresh toppings.
      2. Slice with apizza rocker and serve to your crowd.

While trying your Best Pizza Ever, make sure to let it cool before munching on it. Remember, heat is conserved in the wet sauce and insulating layer of cheese, so if you’re going to get a slice fresh from the oven, lift the heat-trapping lid of cheese with a fork, and you’ll see how the steam pours off. Either way, feel the burning sensation if you prefer and enjoy your pizza! If you're looking for more pizza products, just head on over to ourwebsite and check out our Pizza Essentials.
